Thankfully Reading 2021
It’s time for the best low pressure Readathon of the year: Thankfully Reading hosted by Jenn from Jenn’s Bookshelves! I am so excited. I will be starting Wednesday morning since I am off work starting then.
I am looking forward to spending Thanksgiving with my family again! I am boosted and feel pretty confident being around them.
I am currently in the middle of reading five books so my goal is to finish those!
Kick Off Post
How will/did you celebrate Thanksgiving? I am going to my Grandma’s house. Usually I host Thanksgiving or my Mom does but this year my Grandma and Aunt wanted to host.
What’s in your TBR pile for the weekend? The five books I am currently reading plus a big ol pile of other books! My TBR is enough for five years ha ha.
How much time do you think you’ll have for reading? Hopefully a lot!
What book are you starting out with? I am going to start off finishing As the Wicked Watch by Tamron Hall. I am getting close to the end and it was hard to put down last night. I am looking forward to this series continuing. It fills in the Robert Gilbraith itch.
Are you reading print, ebooks, or audio? Maybe a bit each? All formats!
What books will you be talking about during Thanksgiving dinner? Be sure to keep track of any recommendations you receive and share when you have the time. If you don’t celebrate Thanksgiving, don’t worry, this is a weekend for everyone! I will probably talk about the new Sally Rooney book because I loved that one and I sent to to my sister for her birthday.
Wednesday
Have had a delightful first day of vacation. I read, watched TV, did laundry, drank tea, watched BookTok and cooked.
I finished my first book As the Wicked Watch but I was almost at the end anyway. It was so good. I really liked it.
I started a new detective mystery series by Katrine Enberg. This is translated from Danish and set in Denmark. It is about a group of police detectives who are trying to solve a murder. I am really enjoying it so far!
I listened to Anxious People by Frederik Backman while cooking. I am close to finishing. I made a pan of cornbread and then tomorrow morning will make my garlic green beans before heading for my Grandma’s. Happy Thanksgiving Eve everybody!

Thursday
Happy Thanksgiving! It was great to celebrate Thanksgiving with my family again although half my sisters ended up being sick or not able to come. We still had a fabulous day with extended family.
I got home and had a wild urge to get out my Christmas tree so I did and now it’s so festive in my house. There is nothing more cozy than curling up with a book and a dog in front of the Christmas tree. It also started raining so extra cozy!
Then I curled up in bed with a book and cup of tea. I finished The Tenant. I really liked it and was excited to read the second book in the series but I can’t seem to find any edition of it in English even though the third one is available in translation. Bizarre. I also finished the audiobook of Anxious People which I reread for my book club which I wasn’t even able to attend. I forgot how darkly funny that book is. Highly recommend.

Friday
It’s so glorious to have three more days off! I love that Thanksgiving is on a Thursday. Today was a wonderful reading day. My goal was to finish An Empire of Storms. This is the first Throne of Glass book that was new to me during my reread so the ending was really shocking to me. I was planning on taking a quick break from the series because it takes me so long to read one book but I am like nope. Going to have to move on to the next one ASAP.
I finished book #55 in my Nancy Drew reread. These are also the later Nancy Drew books that I haven’t read. it’s interesting to see how different the later books are. After I finish my Nancy Drew reread (through book #64 I am going to start my Trixie Belden reread.
I started two new books The Flatshare and Bibliophile Diverse Spines. Loving the latter! I have already added so many book to my TBR. I need to make a Goodreads list from these books and make it a goal to read. I have been wanting to read Flatshare forever and right now it’s falling a little flat for me. It’s not really capturing my attention but I will try again tomorrow.
Friday Numbers:

Saturday
So the only things I did today was shampoo my carpet, read books, and watch Christmas in the Castle on Netflix. Shampooing the carpet took way too much time and consisted of me lugging the heavy shampooer all over my upstairs and it took FOREVER to get the water sucked back up.But it was another good reading day. I finished Bibliophile Diverse Spines which was SO good that I decided to make a Goodreads discussion group around the books in this book! Here’s the link if anyone wants to join.
I was a little moody today so I started reading three new books because I couldn’t settle on one: The Thirteenth Pearl, One Italian Summer, and Birds of Prey.
Saturday Numbers:
Pages read: 325
Audiobook Time: 3 hours 14 minutes

Sunday
Today on my last vacation day my goal was to just relax. Which I did do but also I didn’t feel very good and ended up taking a long nap which I rarely do.
I finished The Wise Women audiobook. It ended up being pretty depressing. I finished the next Nancy Drew book which was partly set in Japan and oh boy extremely problematic! I also finished One Italian Summer by Rebecca Serle and wow I loved this book. Loved, loved, loved!
Sunday Numbers:
Pages read: 406
